Cursed by the Realm: Maigo no Musha
The eldest daughter of the Tortoise Daimyo Kasuga Kasumi, Kiyomi is not particularly strong or clever, but she has a way with words—something she uses to her full advantage. Life-long friend and companion to Toritaka Hitomi, she never saw her cousin’s silence as an issue. She always talked more than enough for the both of them. Learning how to sign to communicate with Hitomi was the second of many languages Kiyomi learned.
The Court of Mirumoto is Kiyomi’s first major court. She has wisely taken the advice of her mother’s friend, Kitsune Yamako, former Daimyo of the Fox Clan, and is going to be careful of what barbs she throws.
After a year of battles, of courts, and of travel, the Kiyomi that emerges is even more cunning than before. Though still tiny and adorable, she can better defend herself when Hitomi isn’t able, and her social skills have only grown. After seeing her score several major coups with influential samurai, her family takes great pride in the good she does for the Empire.
She picked up a servant, Yuuma, and has since trained him in etiquette and protocol, entrusting much to the capable young man. With her cousin Hitomi finally looking forward to her marriage, Kiyomi still keeps many suitors in suspense, wondering whom she may choose as her husband, and what Clan she may grace with her presence.
