Cursed by Gaki-do
Born the second child of the important Phoenix daimyo, Lord Yoshio, Shiba Sagura was never groomed to take over his father’s office and rule. He was allowed to pursue his own interests more freely than his older sister, Aiko, who was the born heir.
At a young age he was betrothed to the Mongoose Clan samurai-ko, Daichiko. Though it wasn’t a prestigious betrothal for him, Sagura’s father felt that allying himself with a clan that was currently in the Emperor’s favor couldn’t hurt. The two took quickly to each other, and everyone smiled and nodded, sure that the Fortune’s had blessed them both.
That all changed at the onset of the War of Spirits, when Aiko, commanding her own troops, fell to the forces of the Steel Chrysanthemum. Now in a position to take over his family, his wedding to Daichiko was called off, so that a better match, one more suited to his upcoming position, could be made.
However, the two still continue their relationship, unwisely, in secret.
Sagura is also a natural artisan. His works include poetry and philosophical musings, though none of a quality that would garner him empire-wide fame. His personal dream, which he realizes must always come second to his family duty, is to write plays.
